Based in China, Hyde will focus on supply chain management, logistics, quality assurance, direct shipping and sourcing. He reports directly to Funko CEO Andrew Perlmutter and is expected to work with the product and sales teams in Asia to expand the company’s footprint throughout the region.
For the last 17 years, Hyde has served as managing director of Asian operations for UK-based toy distributor The Character Group, overseeing relations with factory suppliers. But Hyde started out in the toy business at Mattel in LA, where he focused on brand management, marketing and product development.
As Funko expands its operations, the collectibles giant is also building out Funko Games, which has launched kid-skewing licensed products including memory game Disney Hidden Mickeys and stacking game Dr. Seuss Stack With The Cat.
This month, the division is releasing two new board games based on Moonbug Entertainment’s flagship preschool property CoComelon. CoComelon Picture Pairing Game and CoComelon Pattern Party Game are designed for kids ages three and up and will sell through Walmart, Amazon and the Funko Games website in North America.
