‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is now the seventh-highest grossing film in U.S. box office history, after surpassing $660M in ticket sales domestically.
The film has now flown past ‘Titanic,’ which earned $600M from its original 1997 release. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is Cruise’s first film to exceed $100M in a single weekend and his first to reach $1B at the box office globally.
That said, the Tom Cruise ‘Top Gun’ sequel is no match for the James Cameron epic when it comes to ticket sales internationally. ‘Titanic’ has generated about $2.2B globally, while Cruise’s action film has earned about $1.3B.
