Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s Laal Singh Chaddha took one week to cross the Rs 50 crore mark. The film, which was released alongside Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, failed to impress the audience. Both Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha’s performances at the box office left trade analysts shocked. On Day 8, according to early trends, Laal Singh Chaddha collected Rs 1.5-1.75 crore.

Laal Singh Chaddha opened to mixed reviews. However, it failed to bring the audience to the theatres. Aamir Khan’s film faced a major boycott from netizens, which may have been a reason for the film’s bad performance at the box office. The film saw a 25 per cent drop in collections on Day 8 and collected Rs 1.5-1.75 crore.

According to a report by Box Office India, the film may collect Rs 63.2 crore lifetime, which is very low for an Aamir Khan film.

Directed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of the Hollywood film, Forrest Gump, which featured Tom Hanks. The Hindi adaptation features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in crucial roles. Even before its release, Laal Singh Chaddha made headlines due to multiple controversies. Netizens called for a boycott of the film over statements made by Aamir and Kareena in the past. The two stars requested fans not to boycott Laal Singh Chaddha and asked them to watch the film in theatres.
