Business Beat: Altered Reality Entertainment (Comic Con) pops with new brand, events

After fifteen years of producing pop culture events in Southeastern New England, including events such as Southcoast Toy and Comic Show, Terror Con, and its flagship Rhode Island Comic Con, as well as Colorado Springs Comic Con, the owners of Altered Reality Entertainment, LLC, Steven and Connie Perry announced this week plans for a major expansion in their calendar of scheduled events.

In addition to celebrating the 7th Annual Colorado Springs Comic Con August 25-27, 2023, and the 11th Annual Rhode Island Comic Con November 3-5, 2023, owners of the event management company plan the return of the horror and paranormal themed Terror Con, moving it to a new home at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough, MA. The event is scheduled for September 15-17, 2023. Tickets for these events will go on sale November 25, 2022. Vendor registration for Terror Con is currently open at www.theterrorcon.com.

With this expansion comes the creation of a new brand of events for Altered Reality Entertainment—Contropolis. The brand will span multiple cities in 2023 and expand to more in future convention seasons. Included in this new brand are the following:

Contropolis Pennsylvania, scheduled for May 5-7, 2023 at The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. Ticket sales and vendor registration is currently open at www.contropolispa.com.

Contropolis Massachusetts, scheduled for June 16-18, 2023 at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough, MA. Ticket sales and vendor registration is currently open at www.contropolisma.com.

Contropolis New Jersey, scheduled for July 8-9, 2023 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, NJ. Ticket sales and vendor registration is currently open at www.contropolisnj.com.

At Contropolis, fans of pop culture will enjoy meeting stars of stage, screen, wrestling ring, and comic book page. Watch them on stage as they tell stories of their careers and experiences. Bring home a lifetime of memories with autographs from, and photographs with, your favorites. Shop for comic books and collectibles with some of the best vendors in the country. Cosplay favorite characters and compete for prizes at the event’s costume contest.

Rounding out the expansion, Altered Reality Entertainment has launched its first anime-focused event, Rhode Island Anime Con, scheduled for July 29-30, 2023, at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Tickets and vendor registration is currently open at www.rianimecon.com.
