This south film has surpassed Brahmastra in the Box office collection

Vikram Vedha starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan and Ponniyin Selvan I released together.   Vikram Vedha failed to do well at the box office. Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai and Vikram’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 is doing very well at the Box office The film, buoyed by strong earnings overseas, has collected in excess of ₹450 crore worldwide, eclipsing the marks set by both Brahmastra and Vikram so far. The movie is breaking all the records at Box office.

According to the box office reports, As per trade sources, the film has earned ₹455 crore gross worldwide as of September 17, which includes an impressive haul of ₹161 crore ($20 million) from overseas alone. In comparison, Ayan Mukerji’s  Brahmastra has earned ₹431 crore globally and Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram has grossed ₹443 crore. Ponniyin Selvan: I is a historical epic based on kalki’s eponymous Tamil novel from 1954. The film tells the story of the early days of Arulmozhi Varman, who would later become the great Chola king Raja Raj I.

Ponniyin Selvan is the first part of a two-part franchise that has been shot on a massive budget of 500 crore rupees.  Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular novel on the life of Raja Raja Chozhan,  Ponniyin Selvan: Part One has a screenplay written by Mani Ratnam, Jeyamohan and Kumaravel. PS1 will be the first of a two-part film series. It stars South Star Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, Karthi as Vanthiyathevan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini, Trisha as Kundhavai, and Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhi Varman.
