- HISTORY ASPECTS:
- The Breeze Airways Airbus A220-300, registered as N203BZ, has become a symbol of modernization and innovation in the American airline industry. Founded by aviation entrepreneur David Neeleman, Breeze Airways emerged with a vision to provide a more convenient, affordable, and comfortable travel experience. This aircraft, with its advanced technology and fuel-efficient engines, plays a pivotal role in reshaping domestic air travel in the United States.
- With an assortment of different aircraft from which to choose seating from 60-100 passengers in Bombardier’s range of aircraft, the company saw an opportunity to enhance its offering with larger aircraft seating over 100 passengers, and commenced development of the C Series back in the late 1990’s. However, as market conditions changed and new technology evolved, Bombardier stalled the program to seek out and obtain the most up-to-date technology that could be offered. Bombardier eventually narrowed down its selection to two designs, which were designated the CS100 and the slightly larger CS300 types, with both planes offering seating for 100-160 passengers.
- The first CS100 initially flew in September 2013, with the first CS300 having taken to the skies in February 2015. The C Series eventually went into service with Swiss Global Airlines in July 2016, with its first scheduled flight having been from Zurich to Paris. The C Series comprises a great percentage of advanced composite materials, ultra-efficient engines and a cabin that has been very well received by its passengers, as it boasts large windows and increased overhead storage. Despite Bombardier having created a very advanced airliner, costs began to mount as it had to compete with global giants Airbus and Boeing. Consequently, in October 2017, Bombardier and Airbus announced a partnership, with Airbus receiving 50.01% interest in the program, assuring a better foothold in the marketplace for the struggling manufacturer. As a result of the partnership, the CS100 and CS 300 have been renamed the Airbus A220-100 and A220-300 respectively.
- The A220-300, known for its quiet, spacious, and comfortable cabin, has allowed Breeze to offer an exceptional passenger experience. With a focus on serving secondary airports and routes underserved by major carriers, Breeze Airways has quickly gained popularity among travelers seeking a more convenient and hassle-free way to explore the United States.
- This 1:400 scale model perfectly captures the elegance and innovation of this aircraft. It’s a must-have for aviation enthusiasts and collectors, a testament to the future of travel, and a reminder of the exciting transformation happening within the U.S. airline industry.
